White Ribbon Day Event

Stopping Violence Dunedin is proud to be part of the 2016 White Ribbon campaign. Stopping Violence Dunedin has been part of this of this event since 2007. Every year on the 25th of November we have held events in the Octagon, this year our event has been moved to South Dunedin and will be held on Lorne Street between King Edward and Rankielor Street from 12-2pm. There will be live music, sausage sizzle and activities kids. This event will help raise awareness of domestic violence, White Ribbon day and our organisation.

The primary focus for the White Ribbon 2016 campaign is to raise awareness of the ways people can learn how to create better relationships.

This includes effective use of non-violent communication, respectful sexual relationships, and challenging the attitudes and behaviours that underpin family violence.

Stopping Violence Dunedin is a not-for profit charity that has been offering services to the Dunedin community for the past 30 years. Stopping Violence Dunedin’s mission is to reduce family violence and other damaging conflict in our community. SVD promotes a safe community and works collaboratively with other agencies. We provide evidence-based programmes that challenge our clients' use of violence whilst educating, inspiring and influencing change.

Stopping Violence Dunedin offers a range of services that deal with family violence, anger management, and creating respectful relationships between all. We offer counselling to couples and programmes to both individuals and groups. Stopping Violence Dunedin is currently running a pilot for graduates from the Stopping Violence Dunedin programmes. We also work with young people and the Dunedin Collaboration Against Family Violence (DCAFV), sits under the umbrella of Stopping Violence Dunedin.
