Free weekend bus shuttle for Hutt shoppers

Shoppers will find their quest for presents that much easier this Christmas by using a free bus shuttle from the Waterloo Station park and ride facility to Lower Hutt’s CBD and Queensgate Mall.

The service, which will take parking pressures off motorists and make it easy to get to Lower Hutt’s shops, will run every 15 minutes between 9am-6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5.30pm on Sunday from the station to a bus layby outside the courthouse on Laings Road and vice-versa.

The buses, which are being made available by Greater Wellington Regional Council, will be going every weekend in the lead up to Christmas.

”We’re taking the hassle out of shopping by encouraging people to use public transport to get to the shops. With limited parking in the CBD and competition for spots it’s going to be so much easier to park at the station, jump on to a free bus and arrive unruffled at the centre of the shopping action,” says Greater Wellington Regional Council chief executive Greg Campbell.
