We're excited to announce that the Carnegie Room, our new meeting space at Thames Library, is now open to the public. Named after Andrew Carnegie, the philanthropist who helped to fund Thames' first free public library in 1905, the Carnegie Room looks out onto Rotary Park and will host author visits, book clubs, Young Library Champ sessions and plenty of other public events.
"Since opening in early November it has accommodated 3 author visits, 1 cheese-making workshop and it has also been used for meetings by 3 departments of Council. When not in use for meetings and events library customers are enjoying being able to sit in a quiet space where they can read or use laptops and mobile devices” says Linda Hayfield, Thames Library Co-ordinator.
The Carnegie Room is available to hire, please contact Thames Library on 07 868 6616 for more information.
Don't forget, we also have a meeting room at Tairua Library, which is available for both commercial and non-profit groups. Contact Tairua Library on 07 864 7960 for further details.
