Operation Archer, Wellington homicide investigation - UPDATE

" Operation Archer, Wellington homicide investigation - UPDATE "

Wellington Police are continuing their homicide investigation into the death of a 30 year old woman resulting from an incident in Ward Street, Upper Hutt at midnight on Friday 9 December 2016.

Investigation lead, Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee, is able to advise that the 30 year old woman who died was Lois Rita Tolley of Upper Hutt.

“This is an incredibly sad and stressful time for the family who Police are supporting through an incredibly difficult time so close to Christmas.

Lois is the youngest of four children and has a number of nephews and nieces and is part of a large family.

The family are devastated by this act of violence that has taken their much loved Lois from them.”

Police are working at Lois’s house with ESR gathering evidence and a post mortem was undertaken today.

“As a result of fresh evidence Police can advise that we are now looking for a firearm and knife believed to be involved in the death of Lois. Just prior to the incident, at around midnight, four males were seen jogging south along Wilford Street towards Ward Street.

One of the males was carrying a long rectangular object.

They are described as all about 182cm tall and wearing dark clothing with hooded tops”

“Witnesses have described seeing three or four young men at the Ward Street address at the time Lois was killed.

One of the young men was described as particularly distressed after the incident had occurred and Police encourage all these young men to come and speak with Police.”

“Police can reassure the community that we are making good progress into Lois’s death with the help of the community and the meticulous forensic examinations being undertaken.”

“If you have any information that would help Police we encourage you to contact the Operation Archer team based at Upper Hutt Police Station by ringing (04) 3812000 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
