Cr. Denise Lee wishes retiring MP/Minister Lotu-Iiga well

PRESS RELEASE

December 13, 2016

Maungakiekie-Tamaki Councillor Denise Lee (formerly Krum) expressed her surprise but heartfelt best wishes to local MP & Cabinet Minister Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga upon news of his pending retirement.

"I have known Peseta Sam and volunteered for his electorate team for many years so know first-hand how local residents view him.Sam is one of the most approachable politicians anyone could come across and his unmistakable trademark smile quickly won over many in the Maungakiekie electorate."

"It is incredibly hard to go anywhere with Sam and not be stopped by residents wanting to greet him."

Councillor Lee said Lotu-Iiga brought to the job very unique and valuable skill sets including his formidable Auckland knowledge as a former city Councillor and his Pasifika leadership mantle. "Many look up to Sam, both in his accomplished life before politics and his ground breaking role as a Samoan MP and then later as a Cabinet Minister with tough portfolios. He made great strides into diversifying the make-up of both the National Party and Parliament itself."

Lee said she "wished Sam all the very best as he plans his next phase of life and no doubt more time with his wife Jules, daughter Hope, and newly adopted baby son Luka."
