Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Auckland Libraries

Aucklanders are invited to strut their stuff, shake their tail feathers and revel in the Year of the Rooster with Auckland Libraries.

Running from 28 January until 11 February, a wealth of fun activities will provide opportunities to learn about the Lunar New Year and this hardworking, talkative, and showy sign of the zodiac.

The celebrations will take place at 36 libraries across the region. From meditative tai chi, calligraphy, and watercolour painting to dumpling making, bilingual storytelling, and many styles of dancing there is a performance or class to appeal to everyone.

“Lunar New Year is a festival of peace and renewal, Auckland Libraries encourages people from every walk of life to learn more about Asian cultures and fosters harmony and understanding across communities” says Auckland Libraries’ Senior Library Assistant Hao Zhang.

Activity listings can be found on the Auckland Libraries website and are free unless otherwise stated.
