We’re
holding an open day on the Saturday of Auckland Anniversary
Weekend to ensure you and as many residents as possible can
attend.
The open days provide you with an opportunity to
learn more about what we understand to be the tsunami threat
to Whitianga. You’ll also be able to talk directly with
the tsunami scientists, hazard specialists and emergency
managers that have worked on this project.
We’re also
keen to hear what you think should be the approach to
managing the tsunami risk in these areas.
We want to know
what you think about such things as: • The emergency
management procedures that should be adopted. • The
community education approach that should be
undertaken. • What you think about coastal land use
planning, such as restricting the location of facilities
like kindergartens or rest homes being built in potential
tsunami inundation paths. Saturday 28 January
2017 9:30am - 3:30pm Whitianga Town
Hall 24 Monk Street, Whitianga For more information

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
