Kerbside recycling

Kerbside recycling

It’s been a windy summer so far - conditions which mean we all need to take a bit of care with the kerbside recycling bins.

Please don’t overload the bins– paper and cardboard will drift up the street and it’s really not part of the collectors’ job to run up and down retrieving litter blowing about in the wind.

Place the bins where they can be seen easily – as close to the kerb as possible. That makes it less likely your bin will be missed.

Please take the time to rinse out your jars and cans – some basic cleanliness makes the job less unpleasant for the collectors handling your rubbish. Should we really have to mention that dirty disposable nappies and bags of dog pooh don’t go into the recycling bin?

Please wrap small amounts of broken glass and put into your black rubbish bag – not the recycling bin. Large amounts of glass – like a broken window – should be taken direct to the transfer station.

ENDS.
