State Highway 25 just south of Thames is closed as is SH25 in Mercury Bay between the 309 Rd and Wade Road due to flooding and police say Hikuai Settlement Road into Pauanui is impassable.
The SH25 bypass around Whangamata was closed earlier but a detour through Whangamata is possible.
This evening, as river levels in the Kauaeranga Valley topped 10m, SH25 at Rhodes Park in Thames was closed.
