Weather, water and road updates #25 4pm

Unfortunately, we are continuing to experience water pressure issues in Hikutaia, around Matatoki, Pururi and Omahu Valley. A water tanker is outside Pururi Pub for those who want to come and collect water. Some people may get water and some may not, unfortunately it will be patchy across the network. At this stage, there is no estimate of restored service, we will send out updates as soon as they come available. We apologies for the inconvenience.

State Highway roads CLOSED

State Highway 25 Whangamata Bypass: The road is closed because of multiple large slips. There is a detour through Whangamata town.

State Highway roads OPEN

State Highway 25 Whangamata to Waihi (Whiritoa): open

State Highway 25 Whangamata to Tairua: open

State Highway 25 Opoutere Road: open

State Highway 25 Hikuai to Tairua: open

State Highway 25A Kopu to Hikuai: The road is now open with stop/go traffic control in place

State Highway 26 Kopu to Paeroa: open

State Highway 25 from Thames to Coromandel town (Coast Road): The highway is open but small slips are continuing to come down. For safety reasons people should avoid using this road.

Kuaotunu Hill (SH25): open, however extreme caution required, so avoid unnecessary travel.

District roads OPEN (some open to one lane):

Hikuai Settlement Rd, Pauanui - open

Tapu-Coroglen Road - open

The 309 Road – open to one lane

Paul Road – open to one lane

Colville Rd – Open to one lane between Shelley Beach and Oamaru Bay, otherwise open

Neavesville Road, Puriri - The ford has been washed out at approximately number 500 Neavesville Road, Puriri. The forestry slash has caused a lot of damage and isolated the residents at the end of this road. This road is remains closed and is expected to be open in 24-48 hours.

If you need to drive please take care and let friends and family know your route and times for travel.

Rain continues to ease off as expected.

Drive to conditions and check the roads and the weather before you go.
