Good
evening all,
We would like to thank you for your support and patience over the past few days. The rain has continued to ease off as expected and our beloved blue skies are appearing, so we will be signing off for the evening unless there are any significant updates.
State Highway 25 Whangamata Bypass continues to be closed because of multiple large slips. There is a detour through Whangamata town.
All other State Highway roads are now fully open, including State Highway 25A Kopu to Hikuai.
However, State Highway 25 from Thames to Coromandel town (Coast Road) and Kuaotunu Hill are open but small slips are continuing to come down. For safety reasons people should avoid using these roads.
District roads are now all open with the 309 Road, Paul Road and Colville Road open to one lane, so please continue to drive with caution.
Neavesville Road, Puriri - The ford has been washed out at approximately number 500 Neavesville Road, Puriri. The forestry slash has caused a lot of damage and isolated the residents at the end of this road. This road is remains closed and is expected to be open in 24-48 hours.
Unfortunately, we are continuing to experience water pressure issues in Hikutaia, around Matatoki, Pururi and Omahu Valley. A water tanker is outside Pururi Pub for those who want to come and collect water. Some people may get water and some may not, unfortunately it will be patchy across the network. At this stage, there is no estimate of restored service, we will send out updates as soon as they come available. We apologies for the inconvenience.
Drive to conditions and still check the roads and the weather before you go.
