Watercare update: dams & Ardmore water Treatment Plant

Watercare- update: dams & Ardmore water Treatment Plant

5 April

Heavy rain in the Hunua Ranges in the past 24 hours has seen no significant deterioration in water quality in the dams.

Watercare staff are inspecting the catchment area around the dams and reports so far indicate no major damage. Silt levels in water reaching Ardmore Water Treatment Plant have not increased and production remains stable.

The Waitakere Ranges also received significant rainfall and once again, no significant problems have occurred and the Huia Water Treatment Plant is operating normally.

On Monday, Watercare ended its Save 20 campaign, following the Tasman Tempest weather event in early March.

The Hunua dams are still discoloured by silt and Watercare staff will continue to monitor water quality as more rain heads towards Auckland in the next 24 hours.

Ends.
