Arrest following serious assault in Palmerston North

Police have arrested a 35-year-old man following the serious assault of a woman at a property on Keith Street, in Palmerston North, yesterday morning.

The 26-year-old victim arrived home around 10:40am to find her house being burgled.

She was then assaulted and suffered facial and skull fractures.

The man has been charged with burglary, aggravated assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in Palmerston North District Court tomorrow.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident and are continuing to support the victim as she recovers.
