The Ride of The Legends (ROTL) is coming to New Zealand for the first time, and you have the chance to meet some former All Black and British Lions rugby sporting greats as they roll through Thames.

On Saturday 6 July you can buy a ticket to an evening with the likes of Buck Shelford, Ian Kirkpatrick, Bernie McCahill, to hear first-hand some great rugby yarns.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with ROTL, it's a cycle tour that runs in conjunction with the Lions Rugby Tour. Each time the Lions go on tour, the ROTL riders also tour the same country and execute a ride, with the purpose of raising 20% funds for their charity in the UK and 80% to the host country's charity.

There are 20 riders from the UK and 20 riders from New Zealand and all riders are expected to raise funds for the charity.

"A huge congratulations to Thames Rugby who are hosting the event and bringing some very well known sporting heroes to our neck of the woods," says Thames-Coromandel District Mayor Sandra Goudie, who will also be attending the night.

Everyone's welcome to attend, at the Thames Rugby and Sports Club at 4pm on the 6th of July 2017.

$5.00 per adult door charge and gold coin donation for children and then pay for what you want to eat and drink.
There will also be raffles and an auction at each regional event.
All proceeds to the ride’s charity Conductive Education.

Sporting Greats Doing The Ride Of The Legends

The Ride of the Legends tour will include ex-Lions (Peter Winterbottom, Roger Uttley, Rob Henderson and Rodger Arneil) and ex-All Blacks (NZ lead rider is former 79 test All Black and current Sky TV commentator Ian Jones along with Alby Anderson, Andy Earl, Ian Kirkpatrick, Bernie McCahill, Buck Shelford and Frank Bunce).
