Feilding man remains in serious condition

"Man remains in serious condition following Palmerston North incident"

A 20 -year-old Feilding man remains in hospital after suffering a head injury in Palmerston North around 10:30pm on Saturday night, 12 August.

The man was located lying in a car park on Main Street, in the area between the offices of the Ministry of Social Development and a bar called The Office.

“I need to stress that how this male has suffered this head injury is unknown," said Detective David Thompson.

"It has previously been reported as an attack but it is not confirmed that this is the case".

Police are still trying to determine whether he has suffered the injury from an assault or an accident.

Detective Thompson said that prior to being located on the ground, the victim had gone to speak to occupants of a vehicle that was parked in this area.

It is believed that he knew the occupants of this vehicle and that they were friends.

"Identifying the persons he was speaking to in the vehicle is a priority in determining the events that have occurred.

The vehicle was being driven by a blonde female and had two males as passengers.

I am asking for those people in the car or anyone in that area at the time to come forward so that we can piece together the events that have occurred.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Konrad Tamati on 06 2139619.

Information can be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
