Original Foods Baking Finalist in Canterbury Business Awards

Sweet news for Original Foods Baking Co - Finalist in 2017 Champion Canterbury Business Awards

Original Foods Baking Co. received some sweet news today (25.8.17) with the family-owned wholesale bakery named as a finalist in the 2017 Champion Canterbury Business Awards.

The proud Christchurch company is a New Zealand institution with its delicious cakes, slices, bites and donuts sold throughout the country and the South Pacific. The tasty treats can also be enjoyed on the inflight menus of Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Virgin and Jetstar.

OFBC has been named in the Champion Producer/Manufacturer category which recognises and celebrates innovative manufacturers, agribusiness and primary producers of materials, products and technology.

The company, which celebrated its 25th birthday last October, is certainly innovative both in the processes it applies at its state-of-the-art $10 million manufacturing facility and the recipes used for its delicious award-winning products.

“We are really excited and feel so privileged to be named as a finalist in the Canterbury Business Awards,” said OFBC founder Jane Mayell.

“Our staff works tirelessly to ensure that we produce only the very best and most delicious baked goods and I am so proud that their achievement has been recognised.

“OFBC started out with just three staff over 25 years ago and now we employ more than 100 full-time and part-time staff. It is important to us that we are supporting the local community and economy. Events like these awards help to confirm that we’re doing just that.”

The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 4 October and promises to be a gala night with some of the country’s most promising and accomplished business minds in attendance.
