SH1 – South of Kaikoura between Peketa and Goose Bay – SCHEDULED FIVE DAY CLOSURE FROM MONDAY 4 SEPT

SH1 south of Kaikoura between Peketa and Goose Bay is scheduled to CLOSE to all traffic for FIVE days as previously communicated.

• Closes: Monday 4 September after the 7am local drive-through

• Reopens: Friday 8 September for a local 6pm drive-through

During this closure we will be dislodging further materials from a number of hazardous rockface sites and it will be too dangerous for vehicles to travel through. Please use Inland Route 70. All dates/times are subject to weather, seismic and other conditions.

UPDATE: SH7 - Alternate state highway route between Picton and Christchurch, via the Lewis Pass – OPEN NOW (midday)

The Alternate state highway route between Picton and Christchurch, via the Lewis Pass, SH7 closed at10.30am for a crane to safely lift a crashed truck out of the way. The original reopening time was scheduled for 1pm, however the crews were able to reopen it to traffic at midday. You may still experience some delays as traffic flows go back to normal, so please allow extra time to safely complete your journey.
