Christchurch Police investigating incident in Templeton

Christchurch Police are investigating a home invasion incident which occurred in the Templeton area yesterday evening.

At around 7pm a male broke into a house, demanding money and other items from the two occupants.

The male was allegedly in possession of a pistol at the time of the incident.

The occupants were unharmed, but were understandably shaken by the incident.

Victim Support is currently providing support.

“We would like to reassure the public that we are working are working very hard to identify and locate the man involved in this incident, however we do believe this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public,” says Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Joel Syme, Canterbury Metro Crime.

“A scene examination is currently underway, and we are following a number of leads in relation to this incident”.

“A stolen motor-vehicle was located nearby, and our initial enquiries show it may be connected to the incident”.

“We are interested in hearing from anyone who a white 1994 Ford Festiva Hatchback car in the Hornby or Templeton area between 6pm and 7.30pmlast night.”
