Onemana slip remedial works and cellphone tower

Onemana slip remedial works and cellphone tower - 11 September 2017

The remediation work to repair damage to our Council's reserve above Onemana Drive is nearing completion.

"We have experienced delays due to the recent wet weather, however the contractor appointed to carry out the work to stabilise the slope is expected to be off site this week once the work has been signed off by the Geotech Engineer," says Bruce Hinson our Infrastructure Manager.

The next stage is the stormwater drainage work which includes the desludging of the Onemana stormwater pond.

"Our parks and reserves team will then organise the replanting of the reserve and we will also tidy-up 328 and 330 Onemana Drive, including some minor repair work," says Mr Hinson.

"We want to thank the community for their on-going patience during this time," says Mr Hinson.

A number of submissions were received in opposition to the telecommunication mast last year under the original application (RMA/2016/23), therefore Spark chose to withdraw the application.

"Subsequent to the withdrawal of this application the appeals to the provisions relating to telecommunication masts within the Proposed District Plan were resolved through the Environment Court," says our Development Planning Manager, Michael Jones.

"This meant that the relevant provisions in the Proposed District Plan could now be treated as operative," says Mr Jones.

Spark then made an application to our Council for a Certificate of Compliance under the Proposed District Plan provisions and the processing officer assessed the application for the mast against the permitted standard in the Proposed District Plan and found it met those standards; so our Council was bound by legislative requirement to issue the Certificate of Compliance.

The application and supporting documents can be viewed here using the reference RMA/2017/140.
