Coromandel Water restrictions update 3pm 22 December 2017
Water restrictions update 3pm 22 December
2017
Sprinkler and irrigation bans are now in place in Whitianga and in Thames Valley due to increases in usage in these two areas.
These two new restrictions join the already existing ones which remain in place:
Tairua: Full sprinkler, hose and irrigation ban remains in place until the reservoir reaches an acceptable level after Thursday afternoon's electrical fault at the water treatment plant shut down water production. The fault has been fixed, but we're keeping the full water restriction in place until more treated water is available in the reservoir.
Pauanui and Whangamata: Sprinkler and irrigation ban remains in place.
Here are some tips for smart water use
Wait until
you can do full loads before you wash dishes or use the
washing machine.
Don’t run the water when brushing your
teeth.
For cool drinking water, fill a jug and keep it in
the fridge. Running water to cool it down can waste 10
litres a minute.
For lawns, apply the ‘step test’ –
if grass springs back after you walk on it, it doesn’t
need watering.
If your toilet has a dual flush button,
use the half flush.
We're checking water use in our nine
urban and two rural water supply schemes regularly and
reviewing our water restrictions daily.
Our water restrictions are reviewed daily and any changes are posted on our website, email newsletter like this one and our Facebook page.
Please report water wastage and water leaks to Customer Service on 07 868 0200.
Residents and visitors are asked to comply with the water restrictions for the good of the community.
