Level Two water restrictions are now in place for Foxton
Level Two water restrictions are now in place for
Foxton and Foxton Beach
Horowhenua District
Council has announced Level Two water restrictions for
residents connected to town water supplies in Foxton and
Foxton Beach, effective from 4 January 2018.
Foxton and Foxton Beach water demand has been higher than usual due to the hot, dry weather and the increased number of visitors during the summer holiday period.
The Level Two water restrictions are necessary to ensure there is enough water supply for household use and firefighting requirements.
Level Two water restrictions
mean:
• Garden sprinklers and soak
hoses must not be used at any time.
• Handheld
hoses, watering cans or buckets can be used on your odd/even
days at any time: houses with even street numbers on even
dates, and houses with odd street numbers on odd
dates.
• Watering of public parks, gardens and
reserves by bore water only.
• Hosing of paved
areas is prohibited unless cleaning is required as a result
of an accident, fire, health hazard or other emergency. The
use of a bucket filled directly from a tap is permitted at
any time.
• Water must not be used to clean
windows except by means of a bucket or watering can filled
directly from a tap.
• Water must not be used
for cleaning vehicles (cars, trucks, boats, jet skis,
motorbikes and bicycles) except by means of a bucket or
watering can filled directly from a tap.
Water
saving tips:
•
Turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
•
Check your toilet cistern, taps, and pipes for leaks or
overflow.
• Sweep up garden waste rather than
hosing it away.
• Do only full loads in the
washing machine and dishwasher.
• Take shorter
showers.
• Use a plug or bowl in the sink when
washing vegetables or hand-washing dishes.
•
Install a dual-flush toilet cistern.
• Collect
rainwater and use clean waste water from the shower, bath or
rinsing dishes to water the garden.
