Free family fun at Let’s Move Together
Families are looking forward to free fun, fitness and friendship this month as Aquatics Horowhenua gears up for Let’s Move Together.
Let’s Move Together is a fun day offering events and activities for the whole family, including scooter races, games, bouncy castles, egg and spoon races, a fun run, a children’s triathlon, and much more.
“All events and activities are free, including participation in the triathlon,” said Josh Wharton, Aquatics Programme and Events Supervisor for Aquatics Horowhenua.
“We want to encourage as many families as we can to get outdoors and enjoy activities together. It’s about participating, being active, meeting new people and having fun,” he said.
Mr Wharton said the triathlon is expected to be a popular event. It consists of a swim, a cycle and a run, and is open to children aged between five and thirteen years.
“It gives children a chance to develop their potential and build confidence, as well as being a great way to have fun, keep fit and make new friends.”
There will also be a sausage sizzle, spot prizes throughout the day, and free swimming afterwards.
The event will be held at Shannon Primary School from 4:30pm on Friday 16 February, at Foxton Pool from 8am on Saturday 17 February, and at Levin Aquatic Centre from 8am on Saturday 24 February.
If the weather is wet, check the Aquatics Horowhenua Facebook page on the morning of your local event for a cancellation notice.
To register online for the triathlon, visit the Aquatics Horowhenua website, aquatics.horowhenua.govt.nz. Alternatively, download a registration form from the website, pick one up from the Levin Aquatic Centre, or register on the day.
