Have your say on Draft Dog Control Policy review

Allowing dogs on-leash in the CBD for a 12 month trial is one of the changes up for consideration as part of the Dog Control Policy review.

Council staff will be answering questions surrounding the policy this weekend, and next, through informal sessions. Residents with an interest in dog control are encouraged to attend.

Keep an eye out for Council’s ‘Let’s Talk’ van at these locations:

· Sunday 11 February: Summer Social event, Monrad Park (10:30am to 3:30pm)

· Saturday 17 February: Hardie Street Reserve next to Fitzherbert Bridge (7:30am to 1pm)

A wide range of submissions on the proposed changes have already been received.

Other proposed changes include:

· Allowing dogs on leashes on to grass sportsfields when fields are not in use for sport

· Changing some Aokautere walkways from dog exercise areas to dog on-leash areas.

The draft policy and online submission form are available at pncc.govt.nz/consultations

All submissions must be received by 4pm Friday 2 March.

Hearings are proposed to take place around April. Submitters are welcome to speak to their submission.
