Trustpower to Donate Vehicle to Whakatāne Community Patrol

Trustpower to Donate Vehicle to Whakatāne Community Patrol

Monday 12 February

Whakatāne Community Patrol will receive a welcomed upgrade to their operations this Friday, with the donation of an updated vehicle from Trustpower.

“Whakatāne Community Patrol are the eyes and ears of the Police in their community. The group’s many volunteers actively take to Whakatāne’s streets, and having a reliable vehicle is essential to their success. We’re delighted to be able to provide the hard-working group with an updated vehicle from our fleet,” says Trustpower Community and Communications Advisor, Alice Boyd.

Miss Boyd says the vehicle donations are just one of ways Trustpower works to support the communities it operates in, and particularly volunteers.

“Being part of the community is at the core of Trustpower’s values as a company. In addition to vehicle donations, we provide marquees for the free use of community organisations, sponsor a number of regional community initiatives, and of course, run the Trustpower Community Awards that recognise the efforts of volunteers throughout New Zealand. Keep an eye out for entries opening on 5 March!”

“Volunteers are the backbone of every community, and the Whakatāne Community Patrol volunteers are no exception. They devote their time every week to help their community, and the donation of a newer vehicle will help this group to continue their great work for the people of Whakatāne.”

Trustpower donates vehicles from its fleet to community organisations once they have reached 100,000kms or are three years old. There are currently 37 ex-Trustpower vehicles in use by community organisations around New Zealand, including community patrols, SPCAs, hospices and Life Education Trusts.
