Update on Kauearanga Valley campgrounds and
Pinnacles Walk
The Department of
Conservation (DOC) has closed Kauaeranga Valley Road,
tracks, campsites and the Pinnacles Hut until 30 March 2018
(Easter Friday).
The valley is closed so DOC can complete
the second stage of storm damage repairs which includes the
instalment of a new bridge where the Wainora ford was,
replacement of the Webb Creek track bridge, river
rehabilitation work and further road repairs.
DOC's
Kauaeranga Visitor Centre, Kahikatea Model Dam walk, Shag
Stream and Kahikatea Camps will remain open during this
time.
Crosbie's Hut is also still open and can be
accessed from the Karaka or Waiotahi tracks from Thames, as
well as the Te Puru and Waiomu tracks. For more
