Council seeks input on Shannon Reserve Management plan

Council seeks community input on Shannon Reserve Management Plan

Horowhenua District Council is seeking input from the community on the long-term management and development of Shannon’s reserves.

Views, thoughts and ideas from the community will help to shape a Combined Reserve Management Plan covering Te Maire Park, Hyde Park, Shannon Domain, Moynihan Park and Stafford Street Esplanade.

“If you use Shannon’s parks, we want to know what you think about them and how they should be managed in future,” said Parks and Property Officer Rachel Carr.

“As part of the review process, we’re holding two community drop-in sessions where people can share their thoughts, experiences and ideas,” she said.

Both drop-in sessions will be held in the Shannon Memorial Hall, with an evening session from 7-9pm to be held on Wednesday 21 February and a weekend session from 2-4pm to be held on Saturday 24 February.

In addition, a workshop will be held in the Shannon Memorial Hall from 7-9pm on Monday 5 March for organisations and groups who use the parks, residents who live next to the parks, and local businesses.

Those who are unable to attend either of the community drop-in sessions but still want to contribute ideas can contact the project team by email to reservemanagementplans@horowhenua.govt.nz or by telephone on (06) 366 0999.

Submissions close at 5pm on Monday 16 April, 2018.
