Serious crash, Whakamarama

"Serious crash, Whakamarama"

State Highway 2 is closed at Whakamarama following a serious crash.

Police were called to the crash involving a car and a van at 3.30pm.

Two people have been taken to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries.

Another person has also been taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The road is closed near the Munro Road intersection and diversions are in place.

There is debris and fluid on the road which is expected to take a few hours to clean up.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays and are asked to please avoid the area if possible.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is being urged to call Tauranga Police on (07) 577 4300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
