"Crash at Temuka, South Canterbury- diversions in place"

Police and emergency services are currently in attendance at a serious crash on Temuka-Orari Highway in South Canterbury District.

The crash occurred around 2.30pm this afternoon.

It appears two cars have been involved in this crash, and one of the occupants suffered critical injuries.

The road is currently closed, while the Police Serious Crash Unit works at the scene.

This part of the state highway is closed and there are diversions in place at SH79 and also at Winchester.

Motorists are asked to be patient while the scene is examined and cleared.
