SH1 closed near Whangarei following crash

State Highway One is closed at Otaika, south of Whangarei, following a two vehicle crash at approximately 6:30am.

One person has received serious injuries, another has received moderate injuries, both will be transported to Whangarei Hospital.

The crash is blocking both lanes so diversions are in place at the intersections with Loop and Maungakaramea Roads.

The road will be reopened once the crash site is cleared.

Police thank motorists in advance for their patience if they experience delays.
