"Fatal crash at Clandeboye, north of Timaru"

One person has died in a crash between a car and a truck in Clandeboye, north of Timaru overnight.

Police were called to the crash on Canal Road, near Badham Road, shortly before 1am.

One person died at the scene, two others were transported to Timaru Hospital via ambulance with critical and moderate injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit and Commercial Vehicle Safety Team are investigating.
