The two trampers who got into difficulty in the Tararua Ranges on Saturday night 14 April 2018, have been airlifted out.
They are safe and well and uninjured, thanks initially to their Personal Locator Beacon.

They were picked up from the Dundas Hut area just after first light this morning, Wednesday 18 April 2018.
Amalgamated Helicopters had a small window of opportunity to pick them up due to a break in the poor weather.

Eleven Search and Rescue personal including Police staff and volunteers and eight Incident Management Team members were involved in the search.

The trampers and their families would like to thank all those involved in the rescue operation which helped to find their loved ones.
