Fatal crash north of Dannevirke

Police were called at 6:30am to a two car crash on State Highway Two just north of Dannevirke, near Piripiri Road.

One person has died in the crash and a second person has received critical injuries.

They are being flown to hospital.

The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating and for that reason the road is closed.

Diversions have been put in place at Otanga Road and Riverdale Road.

We encourage people to delay their travel or consider alternative routes as there is already traffic backed up in the area.
