Auckland’s Southern Motorway reopens but expect delays
Saturday, 21 April 2018, 2:24 pm Press Release: NZTA
The NZ Transport Agency says all lanes are open again
after a serious crash on Auckland’s Southern Motorway, but
motorists can expect delays until traffic clears.
The
crash at East Tamaki closed all southbound lanes causing
traffic to back up as far as Mt Wellington, says Auckland
Transport Operations Centre Manager Rua Pani.
Northbound lanes remained open, but rubberneckers were
causing traffic to build up and queues were back to Mt
Wellington.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or
delay their travel.
Alternative routes south are to
use Great South Road for shorter journeys or to go by the
Western Ring Route taking SH 16 through the Waterview Tunnel
and SH20 to reconnect with SH1 south of the crash
site.
The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their
patience and understanding. Please avoid the area, take an
alternative route or delay your
travel.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik... More
