Tests show Blenheim water safe to drink

Tests show Blenheim water safe to drink

Marlborough District Council is pleased test results show there is no PFAS in Blenheim’s town water supply bores, with one exception. PFAS was detected in a bore in Auckland Street.

Council’s Operations and Maintenance Engineer Stephen Rooney says the town’s water remains safe to drink.

“The result was 0.0014, which is only just above the detectable limit of 0.001 and 50 times lower than the Ministry of Health guideline value.”

“All the town’s nine supply bores were tested for PFAS for this round of testing. All other bores came back clear.”

As there is lower water demand at this time of year, Marlborough District Council has switched off the Auckland Street bore.

“A fourth round of sampling was completed this morning. We anticipate monthly sampling for the next 12 months to monitor this emerging issue.”
