"Arrest following Lyttelton burglaries"

A man has been arrested and charged in relation to a number of burglaries in the Lyttelton area over the past few months.

The 30-year-old local man has been charged with seven counts of burglary and one count of theft from a vehicle.

He is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on the 15th of May.

Further charges are likely.

Some properties were burgled while the residents were home.

Anyone who has been burgled in the Lyttelton or Opawa area in recent weeks and has not reported it is being urged to contact Police.

Also anyone who has disturbed an unknown man on their property who has made an excuse to leave promptly once discovered is urged to contact Lyttelton Police on (03) 378 0200 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
