Calls for interest in Ruataniwha Scheme assets

Regional Council Investment Company calls for interest in Ruataniwha Scheme assets

Hawke's Bay Regional Council, via its investment company HBRIC Ltd, is calling for expressions of interest to purchase all or part of the residual assets, consents and intellectual property associated with the shelved Ruataniwha Water Storage Scheme.

"A lot of work was done on the science around water storage in Central Hawke's Bay. We're now making this available to the people of Central Hawke's Bay or other parties who want to take advantage of this knowledge," says Mr Graham.

The Regional Council elected not to invest further in the scheme, following a Supreme Court decision not to allow the exchange of Department of Conservation land. The land was needed for the dam and associated reservoir to be constructed.

HBRIC is selling the assets and intellectual property on behalf of the regional council on an 'as is' all or part basis.

Any interested parties should contact comms@hbric.nz for a copy of the Expression of Interest document. Proposals must be received no later than 5pm on 11 May 2018.
