The community engagement mobile app Antenno used by Marlborough District Council has been shortlisted as one of the finalists in IDC’s 2018 Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA) in the ‘Civic Engagement’ category.

It’s a major award that recognises top Smart City initiatives in the Asia Pacific region and provides an annual focus on the latest trends and prevailing challenges faced by the cities, local government and their ICT suppliers in the Asia Pacific region. Now in its fourth year, the award is backed by global analyst and tech consultancy firm IDC.

Marlborough District Council is proud to be named in the award nomination as one of the councils using Antenno, which was created and built by IT services company Datacom.

Marlborough Mayor John Leggett says 25 percent of the vote is determined by public voting.

“We’d like our community to vote for Antenno. As our user base grows, this will become an increasingly valuable community engagement tool, both for getting information out quickly to people in our community and, more recently, enabling people to report issues and give feedback to Council.”

As well as using the Antenno app to receive notifications from Council of water shutdowns, road closures and other topics relating to places people care about, such as their home, work or school, Antenno users can now report issues or submit feedback to Council through the app.

The Antenno app is up against three major international contenders:

• Intelligent Civil Affairs System from the Daegu Metropolitan Government and Metropolitan City of South Korea - intelligent chat bot services for a range of civil affairs such as passport, vehicle registration, general civic matters, various festival information, etc.

• CorpPass from the Government Technology Agency of Singapore - Managed by GovTech, CorpPass is a corporate digital identity for businesses and other entities (such as non-profit organisations and associations) to transact with government agencies online.

• eID from the Legislative Council of Hong Kong - eID is a free electronic identity which serves as the single digital identity for authentication when conducting government and commercial transactions online.

“It’s great to see the value we see in the Antenno app being recognised at this level,” Mayor Leggett said.
