Wellington Curtain Bank Comes to Pomare Taita

Wellington Curtain Bank is coming to Pomare Taita, making it easier for the community to get free, lined curtains ahead of winter.

The Curtain Bank, supported by Sustainability Trust, provides free curtains for people with Community Services Cards who need a hand warming up their homes.

Pomare Taita householders can pick up a curtain order form at Pomare Taita Community Trust, 55 Farmer Crescent, Pomare, Lower Hutt, drop it back before 22 Junewith their window measurements, and then come back in six weeks to pick up their curtains. See here for guidance on how to measure your windows.

“A huge thank you for supplying our curtains. They are of such good quality and have already made a huge difference to our family. My son has a lung condition, so having a warm home makes a huge difference. Thank you [Wellington Curtain Bank] for doing such a nice job,” said a recent happy customer.

Across the region each year, the Curtain Bank gets lined curtains to more than 550 low-income homes, reducing power bills, increasing comfort and improving health.

The curtains are made from donations of pre-loved curtains, so the service also reduces textile waste going to landfill.
