Matariki events shine across the Capital

Tuesday 12 June

ReCut, Ahi Ka, and the Sky Show are all part of the Capital’s Matariki calendar – but we’re also proud supporters of many smaller events, exhibitions, and initiatives celebrating the Māori New Year.

Matariki is being embraced all over Wellington, and many of our grant recipients and Council Controlled Organisations are leading the way – discover a selection of events happening below.

Matariki artworks around the city
This year’s Matariki public art project, WAITUHI, includes a series of flags designed by artist Sian Montgomery-Neutze. You can see them at Frank Kitts Park and Toi Pōneke Arts Centre. Look out also for WAITUHI artworks by Angela Kilford and Aliyah Winter, on display on the Jervois Quay overbridge and on billboards at the Railway Station from 18 June for three weeks.
