Update - crash on Northern Motorway

The latest report from the scene of a multiple vehicle crash on the Northern Motorway at Dairy Flat suggest one person has critical injuries.

Emergency services were called to the crash at 6.02am, where several vehicles were involved.

The crash happened on the southbound lanes at section 2C, between the Silverdale off-ramp and the Oteha Valley off-ramp.

Police continue to advise motorists to avoid the route and expect delays.

Local diversions are in place.

The Serious Crash Unit and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Team will attend the scene.
