Kauri disease fundraiser

The Kauri Museum at Matakohe is raising funds to fight kauri dieback disease through the efforts of celebrated early New Zealand photographer: Tudor Washington Collins, with sales of a book earning a 'dieback donation'.

“In addition to preserving our past, The Kauri Museum has a role to play in conserving our future, collaborating to “Save our Forests” by raising public awareness to control the spread of the Kauri Dieback disease and promote forest ecology,” said museum CEO, Lisa Tolich.

“We are fortunate to be the recipient of a large collection of Tudor Collins original works, as well as his reflections from his time spent in the kauri bush. Paul Campbell’s popular book, Kauri Cameraman, brings together a collection of Tudor’s memorable images from our past and is a perfect gift for those who wish to help us raise funds to support Ground Truthing initiatives in the fight against this dieback disease. From Arbor day, each book sold from the museum shop and via the website will result in a $10.00 donation.”

'Trees that took a thousand or more years to grow were felled in a day, and it is not without feelings of shame that we reflect on the devastation that was wrought among the giants of the forest…' - Tudor Washington Collins.
