Aktive - Auckland Sport & Recreation Board Chair appointed

New Aktive - Auckland Sport & Recreation Board Chair appointed

Aktive - Auckland Sport & Recreation (Aktive) Board Member Graham Child has been appointed the new Aktive board Chair effective immediately, with outgoing Board Chair Raewyn Lovett stepping down after contributing an outstanding five years to the governance role.

Ms Lovett has been appointed to the Board of Sport New Zealand and, due to Aktive’s Trust Deed, is unable to sit on both Boards. She was a member of the Auckland Sport (now Aktive) Establishment Board.

Mr Child is also a founding Trustee, having been on the Aktive Board since its inception five years ago. He has extensive senior management and governance experience, and is currently the Chair of Cook Brothers International Ltd, Loaded Reports Ltd, The Clubhouse NZ Ltd and NZ Think Ltd.

Other Boards which Mr Child serves on include Triquestra New Zealand Ltd, Sports Distributers NZ Ltd, Qualityarns NZ Ltd and Coldham Trustees Ltd. A former Hockey NZ representative, he was previously the Chair of Hockey NZ and a Board Member for the World Masters Games 2017.

Mr Child says Aktive is appreciative of Ms Lovett’s governance expertise and he is excited about the organisation’s future.

"Aktive has been on an incredible journey and Raewyn has been instrumental in this - I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her considerable knowledge, experience and leadership," says Mr Child.

"I’m looking forward to the challenge of being Board Chair and building on the significant progress we are making with our partners towards improving physical activity opportunities for Auckland and Aucklanders. I am fortunate to have a very supportive and talented Aktive Board and we are excited about the future."
