Online portal offers new way to connect with Council

A new online portal, Connect Horowhenua, is offering the public a convenient way to interact with Horowhenua District Council online.

The portal enables customers to log enquiries and requests for Council services, including enquiries about water and wastewater services, infringements, street lights and street trees, long grass, footpaths and general enquiries. In addition, people can use the portal to make enquiries about booking halls or parks, and to report issues for Council attention, such as a leaking water toby, dumped rubbish, or nuisance animals.

By registering for a log-in and password, customers will be able to update their details through the portal and link their Council accounts, such as their rates balance, to their profile on the portal.

“Linking your accounts to your profile will enable you to check outstanding account balances quickly and easily,” said Horowhenua District Council Business Process Improvement Specialist Chelsea Carlyle.

Ms Carlyle said people can also access Council’s online maps from the portal and link to the events calendar on Council’s website.

She said the portal was free and would deliver significant benefits for customers.

“It makes it quicker and easier to contact Council for a wide range of services and enquiries, all from one convenient location,” she said.

“It means you can interact with Council from anywhere and on any device with an internet connection.”

Ms Carlyle encouraged people to create a profile to get the best out of the portal, and to look out for further additions to the services and facilities available.

The portal can be accessed at https://ecouncil.horowhenua.govt.nz/eservice/.
