Update - Muriwai incident

Please attribute to a police spokesperson:

Police remain at the scene of an incident at Muriwai Beach were two people, a male and a female, were swept off rocks around 2pm.

Tragically, a second person who was rescued from the water has also not survived.

The deaths will be referred to the Coroner.

There is no further information available at this stage.
