Maraetai Coast Road closed and power affected following incident

Please attribute to a police spokesperson:

Police are in attendance at an incident were a motorhome has gone down a bank on Maraetai Coast Road in Maraetai.

No one is injured, however a crane will be required to retrieve the vehicle.

As a result, a section of Maraetai Coast Road between Maraetai Village and Umupuia Beach will soon be closed.

Powerlines will also be shut off while this is taking place, which could affect some residents in Maraetai, Beachlands and Waiheke Island.

Residents are warned it could be up to several hours before the road is re-opened and power restored.

Motorists are warned to avoid the area and take an alternative route.
