Arrest made in connection with death of Daniel Gooch

A 34-year-old man will appear in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday the 24th of July charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Daniel Gooch.

Mr Gooch was found unconscious on Tinirau Street in the early hours of Friday 20 April 2018, before passing away on the 10 May 2018.

The accused was known but not related to Mr Gooch.

Detective Neville Mullany says the investigation team have worked hard to bring some closure for the Gooch family.

“The investigation team have collated a great deal of information with the assistance of the Whanganui community.

We would like to thank all those who helped with the investigation.”

Police will not be able to make any further comment as the matter is now before the Court.
