Ethel and Bethel Bring Laughs to Lyford

The Hurunui District Council’s Community Team hosted their bingo event with legendary comedy duo Ethel and Bethel last week, which proved to be a real hit amongst the residents in attendance.

Those who came along were well looked after with a fantastic spread of food provided by the Mt Lyford Lodge, three unique rounds of bingo and a night full of laughs.

Mt Lyford local, Claudine Barnes, says the local Hurunui community had a fantastic evening at the Lodge being entertained by Ethel and Bethel the ‘bingo babes’.

“We laughed our heads off playing bingo while great food was served by Mt Lyford Lodge's new owners.”

“This was yet another successful event organised by the council, which certainly gave everyone a much needed dose of hilarity and relaxation,” says Barnes.

The Ethel & Bethel event received positive feedback from the community and the council’s Community Team hopes to provide more fun events like this.

Community Team Leader, Rochelle Faimalo, says her team really enjoys putting together these events as they have a noticeable effect on the community.

“Community get togethers like this one bring so much fun and enjoyment to our district. It is a real privilege for us to be involved in them and I am proud of the work the council continues to do to bring our community together post-quake.”

The bingo night with Ethel and Bethel was made possible by funding received from The Tindall Foundation.
