Stig’s Roadshow Comes to the Hurunui

Australia’s most loved narrator of audio books for children and young adults, Stig Wemyss, has left his mark on the Hurunui, bringing his one man show ‘Stig Live @ the Library’ to the district’s school libraries last week.

Stig’s visit was organised and coordinated by Australian publisher Bolinda, and while here he visited Amberley Primary School, Hurunui College and Amuri Area School narrating a number of children’s novels to the students.

Libraries Manger, Justine Lester, says it was a real treat to have Stig performing live in the Hurunui.

“He is the narrator of the 13 Storey Tree House series, which are very popular in both print and audiobook formats.”

“The feedback from the schools has been amazing, and it was great to see him bringing literature to life through his unique delivery techniques. He has definitely left his mark and made reading more attractive to the students of the Hurunui,” Lester says.

Stig was here as part of his New Zealand tour in conjunction with the ebook and eaudio book app BorrowBox, which is a very well-used resource in the Hurunui.

Amberley School Deputy Principal, Katrina Shepherd, says her school thoroughly enjoyed the performance that kept nearly 195 children and teachers engaged.

“What a hoot! Stig was incredible. In all my years here at Amberley, I can sincerely say that I have never been entertained with such comedy which our children absolutely loved.”

Stig’s visit to the Hurunui District was made possible by funding from Hurunui District Libraries and Friends of the Hurunui District Libraries.
