The MetService have issued a Heavy Rain Warning for our District north of Tolaga Bay and a Heavy Rain Watch for the rest of the District South of Tolaga Bay the details are as follows:

Heavy Rain Warning for Gisborne North Of Tolaga Bay

Area: Bay Of Plenty east of Opotiki, and Gisborne north of Tolaga Bay.

Valid: 48 hours from 11:00 pm Friday to 11:00 pm Sunday.

Expect periods of heavy rain from this afternoon, but more persistent from tonight (Friday) through to Sunday night.

Expect 180 to 230mm of rain to accumulate about the ranges, and 140 to 180mm to the lower lying areas during this time. Peak intensities 10 to 15mm per hour.

Heavy Rain Watch for Gisborne South of Tolaga Bay

Heavy Rain Watch Area: Gisborne from Tolaga Bay southwards

Valid: 29 hours from 6:00pm Saturday to 11:00pm Sunday. Expect periods of heavy rain.

Rainfall amounts are likely to approach warning criteria.
