Updated Heavy Rain Warning & Heavy Rain Watch

Updated Heavy Rain Warning & Heavy Rain Watch - Increased Time Period & Rainfall Expected

We have received the updated Heavy Rain Warning & Watch for the District. The warning and watch periods have now both increased from Sunday into Monday. The rain warning expected totals have also increased.

Having a quick look at the rainfall figures for the last 24hrs up to 8:00am most of the District seem s to have had falls between 15 – 20mm with the biggest totals at the very top of the Coast with the RIP 29mm, Hicks Bay 29mm and Waikura 28mm.

The rivers have shown very little movement at this stage. I am not aware of any issues around the District at this stage which as the rainfall has not been that great to this point is in line with what I would expect….

We continue to monitor the event and will update you as the weekend progresses. The next weather update won’t be till around 9:00pm tonight

Details of the Warning and Watch are below

Heavy Rain Warning
For Bay of Plenty east of Opotiki, and Gisborne north of Tolaga Bay. Valid: 55 hours from 8:00 am Saturday to 3:00 pm Monday. Periods of heavy rain. Peak intensities of 15 to 20mm per hour.
